This attractive town is situated at the entrance to the Cape Winelands, the most famous wine-growing area at the Cape, so a variety of award-winning wine estates and excellent restaurants await you in the immediate vicinity.
The shopping centres Waterstone Village and Somerset Mall are only a few minutes' drive away. There you will find numerous shops for your daily needs.
The university town of Stellenbosch with its picturesque old town, the Helderberg Nature Reserve with countless hiking opportunities, several golf courses, a variety of sporting activities and the beaches of Gordons Bay and Strand are all within a 20-minute drive. Other popular destinations include Paarl and Franschhoek, which are immediately adjacent to Stellenbosch.
Somerset West is an excellent starting point for whale watching near Hermanus. Or you can start the spectacular "Garden Route" along the coast of the Indian Ocean from here.
The city centre of Cape Town can be reached in 40 minutes and the international airport in 25 minutes.
